for $37 mill, price in line with recent July’s sale of ALBERTA DELLA GATTA (176K BLT MAY 2012/NEW TIMES/CHINA) for $38 mill, but cheaper than June’s sale of slightly larger SAG BULK CHINA (179.7K BLT JAN 2012/ORIENT/CHINA) for $40 mill.
Nineties vintage cape DONG-A ARES (151K BLT 1994 CSBC/TAIWAN) has changed hands within South Korea to clients of Samsun Logix for the scrap related price of $8 mill. Hong Kong buyers have bought woodchip carrier ROTTERDAM TRADER (51K BLT 1998 HYUNDAI/S. KOREA CR 4X15T 107621 CBM) for $9 mill. Ten year old handy IVS KESTREL (32.2K BLT 2002 KANDA/JAPAN CR 4X30T) is reported committed to clients of Pacific Basin for the soft price of $10.8-$11.1 mill basis ss/dd freshly passed, about $1 mill less than exact sister AZURITE OCEAN July’s sale for $12 mill basis ss due this November. Remind you that one year younger sister APEX BULKER (32K BLT 2003 KANDA/JAPAN) was purchased by Taiwanese back in June for $14.5 mill. Japanese controlled resale SANKO VEGA (31.6K DELYOCT 2012 EX HAKODATE/JAPAN) was snapped by clients of Shih Wei Navigation of Taiwan for $22 mill. Last week’s reported sale of three generator handy logger BERING ID (28K BLT 1997/JAPAN CR 4X30T) for $8.5 mill has either fallen through or never happened, as she was again circulated in the market for sale this week.
On the container/mpp front, we had another slow week with just a few sales to report; Geared feeder HANSA BERLIN (12.5K BLT 1993 SZCZECISNKA/POLAND 1016 TEUS CR 4X40T LDT 5248) was
committed to Malaysian buyers for $3 mill while Thai buyers (clients of Jutha Maritime) have paid $25 mill for heavylifter tweendecker FREDENSBORG (12.7K BLT FEB 2011/SANFU CHINA CR 2X150T).
In the Tanker segment, clients of Nautilus Marine of Greece have committed vintage LPG unit GASCHEM TANA (9.4K BLT 1992/GER) for $10 mill. Nineties vintage VLCC TAJIMARE (265K BLT
1996 IHI/JAPAN) has commanded $25 mill from clients of Dynacom of Greece in line with August sale of same age HAMPSTEAD (298 BLT DAEWOO/S. KOREA) for $23.9- $24.3 mill. Undisclosed
interests have committed vintage parcel tanker VIKING STAR (33.6K BLT 1981/NORWAY ST.STEEL & ZINC TANKS, LDT 8829) for $4 mill, which is exactly her scrap price, so it could easily be a demo deal.
Norwegian buyers have purchased modern stainless steel unit PUSPAWATI (20K BLT 2008 SHIN KURUSHIMA/JAPAN) for $23 mill, while Middle Easterners paid $3.1 mill for stainless steel unit
ORIENTAL CHEMI (8.5K BLT 1990/JAPAN). In a closed tender sale in Malaysia, South Americans spent $3.05 mill for laid-up modern small unit SAMPURNA ABIDIN (6.4K BLT 2007 DONGPENG/CHINA) basis as-is delivery in Johor in Malaysia while stainless steel bunker tanker FORSTRAUM (2.9K BLT 1991/NORWAY) went to clients of Vexoil Bunkering of Latvia for $4- $5 mill.
In the demolition sector, this week’s subcontinent’s market is still stable. Rates are currently ranging between $410-$420 for bulkers, $435-$445 for tankers & $420-$435 for container vessels. China is
soft paying $290-$320 while Turkey is firm paying $320-$340 for bulkers, $335-$345 for containers & tankers.
