CLASSIFICATION society, Korean Register (KR), has been authorised to deliver statutory services in Latvia as a "recognised organisation" of the Latvian government.
KR is now able to conduct relevant surveys, audits and issue certificates to Latvian flagged ships for the purposes of SOLAS, MARPOL, International Tonnage Convention (ITC), International Convention on Load Lines (ICLL), International Safety Management (ISM) Code, and Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).
International-Ship & Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) related certification will also be carried out upon acquiring prior approval from the government.
"We are now authorised by 67 individual countries to deliver statutory services. This latest approval is a further demonstration of KR's growing strength and reach within the international shipping sector," said executive vice president and CEO Kim Chang-wook.
This authorisation follows similar acceptance by Oman earlier in the year to carry out ship survey and certification work.
