JAPAN's Port of Osaka posted 13.7 per cent year-on-year March decline to 183,274 TEU, of which 158,227 TEU came from foreign trade, down 15.3 per cent with the remaining 25,047 TEU coming from domestic trade, down 1.8 per cent.
Osaka also posted a 10.3 per cent year-on-year decline in March exports to 73,588 TEU with imports falling 19.2 per cent to 84,639 TEU reported IHS Maritime.
Overall cargo volume fell 14.2 per cent in March year on year to 6.83 million tonnes as both domestic and foreign trade sank at double-digit rates, according to early figures released by the Osaka municipal government on June 30.
Of the 6.83 million tonnes, 2.88 million tonnes came from foreign trade, down 11.5 per cent from a year earlier, and the remaining 3.94 million tonnes came from domestic trade, down 16.1 per cent.
But in foreign trade alone, Osaka exported 901,644 tonnes of cargo, up 11.7 per cent, and imported 1.98 million tonnes of cargo, down 19.1 per cent.
