KOREAN Register (KR), an IACS member classification society, has released a mobile app version containing up-to-date IMO conventions for users to identify regulations for specific tasks in order to apply IMO requirements correctly.
This new facility is based on KR-CON software, an international database programme containing texts of IMO Conventions, Codes, Resolutions and Circulars.
KR-CON is currently used by surveyors, port state control inspectors, shipping companies, shipyards and design houses in 30 countries worldwide.
The app version was developed to meet increasing demand to access information on the move. KR-CON is now in its 12th migration to an app environment, which a statement says, "was the next logical step in its evolution".
The app may be downloaded from the Google and Apple play stores.
"This new version includes photos, diagrams and videos related to the IMO conventions and codes. These will illustrate what used to be a text-only system and will help our users further understand complex IMO communications," said KR chairman and CEO Chon Young-kee.
The 12th edition also includes an enhanced record-tracking facility covering 10 conventions and codes. This allows users to easily identify and track the many amendments applied to IMO instruments.
