Kiel Canal temporarily closed after ship grounding
The "3 Oak" ran aground in the southern embankment of the Kiel Canal at canal km 43 on Dec 7, 2013, around 5 p.m. while being enroute from Szczecin to Rotterdam.
The ship had suffered an engine failure before.
The canal was closed until the vessel was refloated and allowed to proceed.
It berthed at Brunsbüttel at 11.15 p.m. and continued ist voyage on Dec 8 around noon.
