'K' Line sets up separate subsidiary in Japan to provide ro-ro services
"K" LINE Roro Services Ltd is to open for business on October 1, 2013. As part of the "K" Line group its role will be to sell and market ro-ro cargo, including construction and agricultural machinery, static cargo, used cars and construction gear.
Before the creation of the new company, "K" Line's Car Carrier Business Group's ro-ro cargo team had been handling these roles, which will be wholly shifted to the new company that will have offices based in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Hiroshima.
The new company is tasked with expanding the customer base for the transportation of these types of cargo and enhancing sales activities.
"We recently see more and more diversification of cargo mix being loaded, or susceptible for loading, into our car carriers. The new company, composed of a group of specialists in the handling of this above-designated cargo, will promote its activities through communication with present and potential customers, analysing their needs and offering reasonable and personalised solutions, and will also provide them with reliable, well-established, service utilising the extensive fleet of car carriers operated worldwide by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd, said a company statement.
