'K' Line adds new ro/ro service loop to Thailand-Australia trade lane
JAPAN's "K" Line has announced that it is enhancing its ro/ro service between Thailand and Australia by launching a new service route that will be an "anti-clockwise" loop, in addition to its existing "clockwise" loop, to tap rising demand in Australia for imported automobiles.
Starting from the end of November, the new "anti-clockwise" Thailand-Australia service offer two sailings per month, departing from Laem Chabang in the middle and end of the month. The port rotation and scheduled transit time measured in days are as follows: Laem Chabang, Fremantle (9), Adelaide (13), and Melbourne (15).
"With this service enhancement, we will provide shortest transit time to each Australian port with additional frequency and more sufficient/reliable carrying capacity, supporting the increasing transportation demand in the growing import automotive market in Australia," a company statement said.
The existing "clockwise" Thailand-Australia service sails weekly--every Saturday—from Laem Chabang. The port rotation and transit time is: Laem Chabang, Townsville (12 days), Brisbane (14), Port Kembla (16), Melbourne (18), Adelaide (21), Fremantle (25).
