The Navy of Brazil has released the 'Orange Sun' at the beginning of the night of July 20. After the accident, pilots of São Paulo reported that the vessel was not seaworthy but did not say if the problem was mechanical or related to climatic conditions. The Navy of Brazil requested the vessel to anchor in the bar channel of Santos port, to carry out inspection and verification of possible malfunctions. On July 20, the vessel underwent three inspections: the classification society, an underwater inspection and an assessment of the Port authorities. The three competent bodies have formalized reports that showed that there were no structural or navigation problems. The Navy released the vessel around 5 p.m., and it sailed towards New Jersey. The Port authorities have opened an investigation to determine possible responsibility. Several crew members of the vessel have provided testimony to assist in the investigation.
