RUSSIA's AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has joined with Gandikap to fly three thoroughbred horses from Beijing to Moscow - without grooms because of Covid lockdown rules, reported London's Air Cargo News.
The horses - two Andalusian studs and one Orlov Trotter - weighed a combined 1.5 tonnes. They were each transported inside IATA-approved LAR horse containers after having been on a four-year tour.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions in China, the horses were not accompanied with grooms. Instead, ABC followed its customers' step-by-step instructions, to 'minimise loading procedures and guarantee seamless access to the horses' owner within Sheremetyevo International Airport premises'.
'Transportation without grooms seemed like an impossible task. However thorough fine-tuning of all the stages, the transportation has been accomplished,' said Russian regional ABC director Petr Novozhenov.
ABC said it has been strengthening its expertise in live animal transport and has flown more than 1,500 of horses over the last five years.
