PROMPTED by an engine failure while docking in Venice, German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd is replacing the stricken 2,700-TEU Stadt Dresden with a new ship to take on its cargo and partially complete delivery.
Thus, the 1,700-TEU Nordviolet has been sent to Venice to take over shipments the line's truncated Adria Express (ADX) service, taking on boxes to Damietta while Hapag-Lloyd works out a solution to get other cargo to Piraeus.
The bigger ship will now need to head for repairs and its boxes have been unloaded at Venice, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
