HAMBURG SUD, Maersk Line, CMA-CGM, CSAV and CSCL have announced they have combined services between Asia, South Africa and the east coast of South America from next week.
Each operated two weekly services in the trade but from December to May, the ASAS/NGX Sling 2 will be merged with the existing ASAX/SEAS Sling 2 services.
Current capacity deployed by the carriers in the ASAS/NGX Sling 1 service and ASAX/SEAS Sling 1 service will remain unchanged and independent.
The new ASAS/NGX 1 service will be operated by Hamburg Sud and Maersk with eleven 7,100- 7,450-TEU vessels.
The new ASAX/SEAS 1 loop will be run by CMA-CGM, CSAV and CSCL with eleven 6,500 TEU-vessels.
The New Joint Service will be run by CMA CGM, CSAV, CSCL, Hamburg Sud, and Maersk with eleven 4,200-4,600 TEU vessels, calling at Shanghai, Ningbo, Guangzhou-Nansha, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Durban, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Paranagua, Itajai, Santos, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
The 4,600-TEU Cap Jackson will be deployed as the starting vessel for New Joint Service, sailing from Shanghai on December 16.
