89 meters long, Saint Kitts and Nevis flagged vessel Gulf Rio is dredging anchor off Samsun Port. The ship already lost one of her anchors.
The crew consisting of 10 people, being evacuated from the vessel. Aydın Ünal, Harbour Master of Samsun, said that the ship is damaged due to an unknown reason-maybe touching bottom during drift- and taking in water.
Aydın Ünal said that boats cannot go to the assistance of the ship due to severe weather conditions and 6 out of 10 crew evacuated by helicopter.
The ship, laden with soya, was waiting in the anchorage for the availability of berth to come alongside.
