Get digital or else: Hapag-Lloyd levies manual booking fee from April
GERMANY's Hapag Lloyd will levy a EUR25 (US$33.80) manual booking fee for orders received by mail, fax, email or telephone that must be handled manually by staff from April 1.
There will be no such fee for e-bookings offered via Hapag-Lloyd Web Booking, bilateral EDI connections between systems or integration with portals (INTTRA/GT Nexus/ Dakosy / Cargosmart).
Urging customers to plug into the digital age, Hapag Lloyd said: "Your benefits when booking electronically are correct and quick booking information, paper saving, templates allowing you to easily create a booking and receiving booking confirmations faster as well as having your shipment number and B/L number automatically generated."
