GERMAN KG company Herm Dauelsberg has fined US$750,000 for an oily discharge offence in Alaskan waters, having already been fined $1.25 million for a similar offence in California waters two years ago.
The California offence was for a discharge from the 5,117-TEU Bellavia while the Alaskan offence was from the 2,078-TEU Lindavia, reported Singapore's Splash 24/7.
The office of the US Attorney's Karen Loeffler said the Lindavia intentionally discharged 1,780 gallons of oily water into the sea off the coast of Alaska, and then presented false records to the US Coast Guard.
In a separate plea agreement completed last month, Hamburg-based AML Ship Management admitted discharging oily bilge water off Alaska from the City of Tokyo and agreed to pay fines of $800,000.
