FUJIAN direct container shipping between itself and Taiwan was up seven per cent first quarter to 148,486 TEU year on year, which included a 3.03 per cent more sailings to reach a total of 578, Xinhua reports.
Provincial bulk shipping to Taiwan was up 0.2 per cent to 491 sailings, carrying 10.18 per cent more shipments to 2.87 million tonnes.
Fujian and Taiwan trade value increased 29.6 per cent to US$3.29 billion in the first quarter year on year. Imports from Taiwan were valued at $2.52 billion, up 29.1 per cent. Exports to Taiwan increased 31.2 per cent to $770 million. The trade deficit climbed 28.2 per cent to $1.75 billion.
