Fujian container volume up 10.6pc to 4.41 million TEU in 5 months
SEAPORTS in southeast China's Fujian province lifted 4.41 million TEU from January to May, a 10.6 per cent year-on-year increase, accounting for 39.4 per cent of the province's annual container target, Xinhua reports.
In the same period, these ports' throughput tonnage increased 12.4 per cent to 178 million tonnes, taking up 39.5 per cent of the annual target. Foreign trade shipments increased 12.7 per cent to 74 million tonnes.
In May, Fuzhou Port Group, the operator of the province's second largest port Fuzhou, handled 159,000 TEU, 14.75 per cent more than in May last year and 10.64 per cent more than in April. The group's box throughput posted month-to-month growth for three months in a row since March.
