The 'Jennifer H' encountered engine trouble on March 16 at 8 a.m. in the English Canal north of Barfleur, while en route from Gijon to Nordenham. The ship contacted the CROSS Jobourg and asked for permission to anchor for repairs. The ship resumed sailing around 9 p.m., but in the afternoon of March 17 she was disabled again about eight miles northwest of Calais. She was moored one more time, but dragged anchor at one time and was approached by the French SAR tug 'Abielle Languedoc'. The crew managed to fix problem and resumed sailing late at night Mar 17. On March 18 she was troubled again and adrift in Northsea, about 35 miles off the Belgian coast.
