THE Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) is closed as part of the partial federal government shutdown due to a lapse in appropriations, reports American Shipper.
With the exception of acting chairman Michael Khouri and Commissioner Rebecca Dye, all 125 employees were laid off for the duration.
The FMC will not respond to email or phone inquiries, or update its website, or accept filings during this period. FMC databases will not be accessible. All filing deadlines are suspended for the duration.
