A FILIPINO fisherman adrift in the North Pacific Ocean for 20 days has been rescued by the crew of the MISC LNG vessel Seri Begawan.
The fisherman in a small boat was spotted by a lookout on duty on board the Seri Began more than 400 nautical miles off the Philippines coast during the vessel's voyage from Gladstone, Australia to Beihai, China. The vessel is operated by MISC's integrated marine services arm, Eaglestar.
After the rescue the 39-year-old Filipino was provided with food and medical attention. He reportedly was lost at sea when his boat was separated from the mother vessel during bad weather, according to American Shipper.
The fisherman disembarked Seri Begawan near the coast of the Philippines and the ship resumed the voyage to China.
The Philippines Coast Guard presented the Seri Begawan crew a letter of commendation for the exemplary humanitarian action.
