AFTER the 8,100-TEU MOL Comfort split in two and sank in the Indian Ocean off Yemen last month, Mitsui OSK (MOL) Lines withdrew her sister ships from service to strengthen their hulls and now reassigns the MOL Courage on the LP1 loop from Singapore on August 13 and MOL Celebration on August 15.
The remaining four sister ships, the MOL Creation, MOL Charisma, MOL Competence and MOL Commitment, will remain at drydock until hull strenghtening is complete.
The fortified sister vessels MOL Courage and MOL Celebration will take over from the MOL Competence on the Kobe-Singapore leg and MOL Gratitude will replace MOL Courage on Singapore leg.
MOL, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and ClassNK are continuing the investigation with preliminary findings due early September supported by Lloyd's Register. MOL said it will compensate shippers who suffered a total loss based on contract requirements.
