Fire on bulkcarrier New Caterina in Amsterdam
On Oct 23, 2014, short past noon a fire broke out in an excavator working in the cargo hold of the "New Katerina" in the Westport of Amsterdam.
The crew of the ship, which was loaded with coal, was able to evacuate the ship in time and no one was injured.
There was development of dense smoke. Around 2.15 p.m. the fire brigade had the blaze under control, but only at 6.15 p.m. the fire rescue, supported by fire boats of the Port Service, finally had extinguished the fire.
