Service on a B.C. Ferries’ vessel travelling between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay was delayed after a man went overboard from the 'Queen of Cowichan' in the morning of June 19, 2018, around 9 a.m. near Bowen Island, shortly after the scheduled 8:45 a.m. departure from Horseshoe Bay. The crew deployed a rescue boat and saved the man, who was transported to responding members of the Coast guard around 10 a.m. He was very cold, but stable. Service has continued, although the incident has left the 'Queen of Cowichan' running about an hour behind schedule.
