Two young German tourists have died after their car plunged into the sea while they were driving off a ferry in the northern Italian port city of Genoa.
The ferry was moving forward while the tourists' car was on the ramp in reverse gear, causing the vehicle to plunge into the sea, witnesses said, according to The Telegraph.
Rescuers were not able to reach the two victims in time to save their lives.
The ferry had just arrived in the port of Genoa from the Mediterranean island of Sardinia west of mainland Italy.
The ferry's owner, Moby Line, said it could not exclude "human error" in the incident, The Telegraph reported.
