EIGHT ships were stuck in the US Gulf Sabine Pass off the Texas-Louisiana border shipping channel, due to a damaged submerged pipeline last Friday.
One LNGC, one LPG) carrier and two oil tankers were waiting to leave Sabine Pass, while one LNGC and three oil tankers were waiting to enter the channel, a US Coast Guard spokesman told Reuters.
Port Arthur's VTS implemented draft restrictions earlier last week after a ship pulled some 300 metres of a 24-inch dredge pipeline out toward the Gulf of Mexico.
Although the maximum draft was increased to 37 ft from 32 ft earlier in the week, parts of the pipeline remained missing and surveys of the Port Arthur Canal and Sabine Pass Channel were ongoing, the USCG said.
Officials at Cheniere said Thursday the US Coast Guard restrictions were not affecting operations at Sabine Pass towards the end of last week.
