The port of Corpus Christi has been indefinitely shut down after the "Paragon" broke from its mooring on Aug 26, 2017, sank the tug Signet Enterprise“, 366 fr (IMO-No.: 9204403), and beached in the ship channel’s entrance to the Gulf of Mexico. The drill ship sank one of two tugs assigned to hold it in place and disabled the second, the “Sabine Pass” (MMSI-No.: 367310530),as Hurricane Harvey barreled down on the Texas coastline. Gulf Copper, a private dock where the ship was anchored, sits next to the Port Aransas ferry crossing. The Coast Guard was able to rescue the crew of the tug, and the crews of both ships have been accounted for and were safe.
