Draining of ferry Napoleon Bonaparte started
24 hours after the start of pumping operations, the "Napoleon Bonaparte" on Dec 12 was slowly emerging from the waters of the Grand Port of Marseille.
The preparatory work was completed by teams of Svitzer Salvage before, ensuring the tightness of thirty compartments and weldings having been set different so that no uncontrolled flooding occur when the ship is regaining a normal attitude. Approximately 30,000 m3 of water are to be drained from the flooded compartments, the operation will take about a week so that the "Napoleon Bonaparte" may be drydocked around December 21.
