DP World's flagship Jebel Ali port has been named the Best Seaport - Middle East for the 21st year in a row at the Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS) held this year in Hong Kong.
Company chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem was quoted as saying in a report by New York's Marine Link: "Our focus on strengthening Jebel Ali's role as the gateway to the Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent is paying dividends.
"Our proven port-centric integrated logistics solutions have been complemented with the acquisition of the Economic Zones World, which includes Jebel Ali Free Zone. We are committed to contribute even more to the UAE's economy and Dubai's status as the premier regional trading hub."
The global port operator recently started construction of its new Container Terminal 4 at Jebel Ali, which will deliver new capacity of 3.1 million TEU in its first phase of development by 2018, raising the port's total capacity to 22.1 million TEU.+
