The ships' construction will be carried out over an eight-month period at the Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China, which has signed an executive design contract with Deltamarin's Chinese branch in Shanghai.
Deltamarin sales and marketing director, Markku Miinala, was quoted as saying in a report by ship-technology.com: "The design is based on Deltamarin's extensive development work for a new generation of energy-efficient and operationally optimised 1,000 TEU to 3,000 TEU container vessels intended for feeder service."
The ships will have a length of 180 metres and a breadth of 31 metres, and are designed to have a minimal impact on the environment, as the ships will comply with the IMO NOx TIER III requirements and will have a built-in scrubber system to minimise sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions. The vessels will also be fuel efficient.
Furthermore, the ships are designed to fulfill key performance indicators such as container carriage variety, homogenous loading capacity, optimal maneuverability and harsh weather seakeeping performance.
