On May 31, 2017, at 7.50 a.m. the bulkcarrier "JP Cosmos" with a crew of 12 on board was in collision with the "Kiyosato Maru" in the Tokyo Bay southeast of Minami. The port aft of the cargo ship which was loaded with 6220 tons of coal clashed with the bow of the tanker which was punctured above the water line. The tanker was loaded with 2000 tons of naphtha and had come from Nagoya. There was no spill. Both ships were anchored near the collision site off Yokohama.
