CMA CGM sets Asia-East Med/Black Sea and East Africa rate hikes
FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has announced three rate increases on the Asia-east Med/Black Sea, the Asia-Red Sea and the Asia-East Africa routes.
The company announced there will be a general rate increase of US$800 per TEU ($700 to Syria) from all Asian ports to the eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea from April 22.
There will also be a $200 per TEU increase on cargo from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Ain Sokhna (Egypt), Aqaba (Jordan), Djibouti, Port Sudan (Sudan) and Aden (Yemen) from April 15.
There will also be a $200 per TEU ($600/FEU) on cargo from Asia, including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh to Kenya, Tanzania (Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar) and Mozambique from May 1.
