SIX shipping giants, CMA CGM, Maersk, Hamburg Sud, CSAV, China Shipping and Hanjin, will restructure Far East to South America east coast services with three new joint strings from July.
The three new services will replace the following four services - the ASAS 2/NGX 2/SEAS 2/ASAX 2 currently operated by Maersk, Hamburg Sud, CSAV, CMA CGM and China Shipping.
Also going are the SEAS 1/ASAX 1 services, operated by CSAV, CMA CGM and China Shipping, and with them, there are the ASAS 1/NGX 1 services operated by Maersk and Hamburg Sud as well as the ALX/ASE service, formerly operated by Hanjin, CCNI, Hapag-Lloyd and Zim.
These will be replaced by SEAS 1 operated with eleven 8,000-TEU vessels with the following rotation: Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Sepetiba, Santos, Itapoa, Itajai, Paranagua, Santos (EB), Sepetiba (EB), Coega, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Busan.
Another new service is the SEAS 2, operated with twelve 8,000-TEU vessels with the following rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Singapore, Port Kelang, Santos, Paranagua, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itapoa, Santos, Durban, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
Another new one is SEAS 3, operated with ten 8,000-TEU vessels with the following rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Yantian, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Singapore, Santos, Itapoa, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
"The new services allow for a more cost efficient and flexible network adjusted to the current trading environment and reflects current market demand in the Far East to east coast South America trade," said the statement from CMA CGM.
Additionally, CCNI and Hapag-Lloyd will join the services.
