CHINA has bought 1.36 million tonnes of American corn for the marketing year, beginning September 1, reports Bloomberg News.
The report comes on top of more than 20 million tons it already bought in the current season. Chinese buying has been a vital factor in driving global grain prices to multi-year highs.
Corn futures have doubled in the past year, climbing above US$7 per bushel earlier this week for the first time since 2013.
