On Aug 23, 2018, at 4.15 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the 'PAvel Kutakhov' in the North Atlantic off Greenland, while the ship was receiving fuel from the tanker 'Nordstraum' (IMO: 9036284), in a ship-to-ship supply. The fire fighting system was activated, and on Aug 24 at 3 a.m. the fire was extinguished. During the firefighting operation, the chief engineer died under yet unknown circumstances. The trawler was drifting disabled in the sea, and another trawler, the 'Kapitan Demidenko' (IMO: 8907137) was sent to assist.
