Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed that Carnival Victory skipped the port of Cozumel in Mexico yesterday (March 22) as the ship instead aided the search and rescue mission to find a passenger who fell overboard. The 2,758-passenger ship is currently sailing on a four-night return voyage to Miami, having already called at Key West on Tuesday, before the incident took place. In a statement, Carnival Cruise Line said: "At approximately 3am Wednesday morning, a man overboard involving a 23-year-old adult male was reported on board the cruise ship Carnival Victory while the vessel was sailing north of Cuba. The ship’s command immediately began taking actions to turn the ship around and begin search and rescue operations. U.S. Coast Guard was notified and has initiated search and rescue activities as well."
