After experiencing engine trouble on its current seven-night Western Caribbean voyage, Carnival Dream skipped a port call Friday to instead return directly to its homeport of New Orleans. A statement from the line said that the ship's other systems were functioning properly, but the vessel was forced to sail at reduced speeds that made it necessary for Cozumel to be cut from the itinerary, which also included Montego Bay and Grand Cayman. Carnival has since confirmed that the problem has been fixed and the ship will arrive in New Orleans today, on schedule, ahead of its next voyage, which is unaffected. Passengers on the current cruise each received $50 in onboard credit for the missed port.
