KALMAR, part of Cargotec, has received an order to supply six E-One2 rubber-tyre gantry cranes (RTGs) to PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) in Indonesia, with deliveries expected by the end of the second quarter of 2014.
A Cargotec statement said the equipment was chosen owing to its ability to increase container capacity at the terminal, which currently handles more than one million TEU annually.
Said terminal vice president Sanjay Mehta: "It was Kalmar's ability to deliver the latest technology, through the E-One2, together with excellent service support from the local Kalmar dealer network that convinced us."
The E-One2 RTG offers 7+1 wide, 1-over-5 high stacking and a maximum lifting capacity of 40 tonnes. Powered by a Cummins QSX15-600 engine, the RTG is said to cut industry's lifetime costs and consumes up to 25 per cent less fuel than rivals.
A joint venture between state-owned terminal operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III and DP World, TPS started operations in 1999.
