The Steamship Authority reported on June 21 that the captain and pilot of the "Iyanough" have been placed on administrative leave.The ferry was traveling from Nantucket to Hyannis when it crashed into a jetty on June 16 around 9:30 a.m. with at least 15 people suffering minor injuries. While alcohol was not believed to have played a role in the crash, drug tests were pending. Weather conditions, including strong winds and choppy seas, have been listed as contributing factor in the grounding.The crash remained under investigation. The ferry remained berthed in New Bedford Port. Initial assessment of the damage indicates the vessel would be out of service for 3-4 weeks.
