On Dec 12, 2014, the "Lord Star", being under repair at the Damen Yard in Brest, suffered an oil leak which caused a pollution of 400 square meters.
In order to contain the spread of oil, oil booms were laid out around the dock number 2, where the ship was berthed.
The maritime prefecture, the Navy, the police, firefighters and representatives of the Centre for Documentation, Research and Experimentation on Accidental Water Pollution were on site.
The bulk carrier had suffered hull damage during a grounding in the Baltic Sea and berthed on Dec 9 for inspections.
On Dec 16 divers were to check the condition of the hull.
