On Aug 25, 2018, the 'Nawatrans 2', 1498 ts (EU-No.: 04028600;, being oaded shredded lead batteries from cars,suffered water ingress in the cargo hold on the Coast Canal in Oldenburg. Just after 10 p.m., a Polish crew member noticed the water in one of the holds. The ship settled on the canal bottom which was about three meters deep. Over 30 forces of the fire brigade, police and the canal authority attended. During the night, divers examined the condition of the ship into which more than 150 cubic meters weaters had leaked until midnight. The danger of a possible contamination had to be clarified.
