THE christening ceremony for Wan Hai Line's latest newbuilding, the 4,680-TEU Wan Hai 516, has been held at CSBC Corp. Taiwan's Kaohsiung shipyard. The shipping line's chairman Po Ting Chen presided over the ceremony.
Wan Hai Line ordered a total of 14 vessels from CSBC, which are to be delivered in the first half of 2013. The order includes four 1,800-TEU containerships, four 1,000-TEU ships and six units of 4,500 TEU, which will be delivered in the first half of 2013.
The Wan Hai 516 is 259 metres long; with a draft of 12.8 metres, and is 57,830 deadweight tons. Its maximum cruising speed is 23.2 nautical miles, and the containership is "equipped with the latest and most advanced naval technologies", a company statement said.
