Vladivostok Commercial Seaport plans to boost annual container capacity to 1.2 million TEU by 2028, enhancing its position in Russian trade.
Vladivostok Commercial Seaport plans to raise its annual container capacity to 1.2 million TEU by 2028 under a new development programme, reported Moscow's Russia's Pivot to Asia.
The Supervisory Board of VMTP, part of the FESCO Group, approved the 2026-28 plan in its latest annual report. The programme aims to maintain the port's leadership in container turnover among Russian stevedores and achieve 80% utilisation.
Measures include reducing average storage time, enhancing logistics efficiency, and enabling the port to handle post-Panamax vessels of up to 8,500 TEU.
VMTP processed 805,000 TEU in 2025, down 8% year on year, but still led Russian container turnover for the sixth consecutive year.
The port operates 15 berths with a total length of 3.2 km, handling container, general, bulk, and Ro-Ro cargo.
Vladivostok Port overall handled more than 1.6 million TEU in 2025, surpassing St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk, underscoring Russia's trade shift eastward.
