US Navy helicopter from USS Pinckney escorts Iranian tanker Sevan back to Iran after sanctions enforcement, reports Saint Petersburg PortNews.
The Iranian tanker Sevan has been intercepted in the Arabian Sea by a US Navy helicopter from the guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney and is returning to Iran under escort, reports Saint Petersburg PortNews.
US Central Command stated that the 29,212 dwt vessel was among 19 'shadow fleet' ships sanctioned a day earlier by the US Department of the Treasury for transporting billions of dollars of Iranian energy, oil, and gas products, including propane and butane, to foreign markets.
The command added that US forces are enforcing sanctions and a blockade on vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports, with 37 ships redirected since the blockade began.
US Central Command is a unified combatant command overseeing US military operations across the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of South Asia.
