US Coast Guard coordinates salvage operations with industry partners

The US Coast Guard worked jointly with industry partners to coordinate the salvage operations for the "Ricky Robinson" on the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee. The Army Corps of Engineers was surveying the wreck location and determining the status of the navigable channel for salvage operations to begin. The Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River and the National Transportation Safety Board were conducting a joint agency investigation. The Coast Guard would like to recognize all those who participated in the search efforts, including: the Memphis Police Department Aviation, the Memphis Police Department Harbor Patrol, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, the Economy Boat Store, the Wepfer Marine Inc., the Budwine and Associates Inc. and all mariners transiting the Memphis port area that responded to the Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and relayed information to the U.S. Coast Guard as well as all concerned citizens walking and searching along the bank of the river. The Coast Guard was notified on Dec 8 of the tug sinking with two people aboard.
