The Turkish tugboat Kastritsi arrives at Varna Port, enhancing VTC's fleet with its 50-ton towing capacity.
The tugboat named Kastritsi, built in Turkey, has arrived at the Port of Varna on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. According to a news article by the Bulgarian maritime publication Maritime.bg dated October 26, the vessel has become a new fleet member of VTC, based in Varna.
The tugboat, produced at Sanmar's Tuzla shipyard, was designed by the Canadian marine engineering company Robert Allan. The azimuth-driven Kastritsi has a towing capacity of 50 tons. Maritime.bg describes the vessel as the strongest tugboat in the Varna port area.
With an IMO number of 1110008, the arrival of the vessel represents a new example of the Turkish shipbuilding sector's deliveries to Black Sea ports. Tugboats provide support for the maneuvering of commercial ships during berthing and departure.
According to the local publication, Kastritsi entered the port by passing the entrance light of the Varna East terminal. The name of the tugboat is derived from the historic Kastritsi port settlement near Varna. The delivery price and detailed commissioning schedule were not disclosed in the article.
