Turkey, Jordan, and Syria enhance transport cooperation to boost regional logistics and trade through road and rail development.
Turkey, Jordan, and Syria have signed an important memorandum to strengthen regional cooperation in the transportation sector. The agreement signed between the three countries aims to develop road and rail transportation and enhance logistics connections.
Regional logistics network will be strengthened.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in a press release following the meetings held in Amman, the capital of Jordan, that this cooperation will significantly contribute to Turkey's vision of becoming a regional logistics hub.
The memorandum aims to facilitate transit transportation, expedite border crossings, and ensure more effective use of transportation infrastructure.
New trade corridors are on the agenda.
With the agreement, it is planned to revitalize trade routes starting from Turkey and extending through Syria and Jordan to the Middle East. In this context, the emphasis is particularly on road transportation, as well as the inclusion of railway projects.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that strengthening transportation connections is critical for increasing regional trade.
The southern route may be reactivated.
With the reactivation of the Syria route, it is expected that Turkey's access to Gulf countries via road will become easier. This situation is anticipated to accelerate export processes and reduce logistics costs.
This cooperation is considered one of the significant steps supporting Turkey's goal of being a strategic logistics bridge between Europe and the Middle East.
