In Muğla, the ferry services connecting Köyceğiz and Ortaca over the Dalyan Canal create one of Turkey's shortest ferry journeys, reducing the travel time by road, which takes approximately 1.5 hours, to between 50 seconds and 1.5 minutes.
The ferry lines operating on the world-famous Dalyan Canal have been in service since 2016, quickly and practically linking the two banks of the canal.
Thanks to the narrow structure of the canal, the crossing time is kept quite short, with one line completing the journey in approximately 50 seconds, while the other line takes an average of 1.5 minutes.
The ferry lines were initially launched to facilitate transportation for the residents of the Çandır neighborhood in Köyceğiz, particularly for farmers engaged in agriculture.
Over time, the lines have also attracted the interest of tourists visiting the region, and today they have become a widely used transportation alternative for both locals and visitors.
Ferries operating between Dalyan Mahallesi and the Çandır neighborhood of Köyceğiz provide uninterrupted service from early morning until midnight.
The small-scale ferries, which can carry a maximum of 4 vehicles at a time, also allow the passage of pedestrians, in addition to cars, motorcycles, tractors, and minibuses.
They significantly alleviate the transportation burden of the region.
Operated by the Dalyan Boat Cooperative, the lines significantly ease the transportation load of the area, especially with the increased tourist density during the summer months.
With the introduction of a second ferry line developed over the years, capacity has been increased, allowing ambulances, fire trucks, and other emergency response vehicles to reach the opposite shore more quickly.
