Nordhavn production in Tuzla has ended: the partnership for 55 yachts has succumbed to cost pressures.
Telgeren & Partners Shipyard has terminated its production partnership with American Nordhavn Yachts. A total of 55 Nordhavn yachts were built at the facility in Tuzla between 2020 and 2026.
Murat Telgeren, General Manager of Telgeren & Partners, stated that the partnership was amicably concluded due to unforeseen and continuously rising production costs. The shipyard produced 55 yachts for the Nordhavn brand over six years at its 13,000 square meter facility in Tuzla.
Nordhavn production will continue through existing partner shipyards in China and Taiwan. Telgeren & Partners announced that it will continue with its new projects and will provide technical support for the Nordhavn yachts built in Turkey.
The end of the partnership does not mean that Telgeren Shipyard has closed or that the delivered yachts are left without owners. The situation announced signifies the termination of a serial production relationship with a specific brand. Details on how ongoing orders, molds, half-built vessels, and warranty obligations will be managed have not yet been disclosed.
This development serves as a warning regarding the Turkish yacht industry's focus on cost competitiveness rather than quality and engineering capabilities. When labor, financing, energy, and imported equipment costs are uncontrollable, building a good boat may not be sufficient to retain customers.
