Tanker may be released from arrest

After being moored in the Aalbæk Bay for five months because of an arrest, the Russian shipping company Palmali has now promised to pay the wages for the crew of the 'Natig Aliyev'. The ITF has been promised that Palmali on 16 July will both pay the crew and pay the detention fees for the ship that took place on Feb 27, 2018. If Palmali keeps its promise, the ship will then be released. There were 19 Russian crew members on board who had a large credit when the ship was arrested by the court in Hjørring following a claim from Eiger Shipping, a subsidiary of the Swiss oil giant Lukoil which had the 'Natig Aliyev' on charter back in 2015, but ended it the tanker before the charter agreement expired. Eiger Shipping had paid bunker on board the ship, and in addition had prepaid rent for the ship's crew for a period after the return. Since the ship was handed to Palmali in December 2015, Eiger Shipping has demanded the reimbursement of the bunker on the ship and the prepaid rent to the crew. According to the fence book, the amount of expense incurred was not below 441,637 US Dollars. Including legal costs the requirement amounted to $ 574,175.
