Tanker insurance could leap 45% if Syria strikes proceed Any military intervention into Syria could see insurance premiums for tankers leap by as much as 45%, a leading economist has warned.  Dr Fahd bin Juma noted that any strikes by the US and its allies would see oil prices spike, and amid tension on the Strait of Hormuz, tanker insurance premiums could jump by nearly half.  Bin Juma is a famous Saudi author and economic analyst. The march towards immediate military intervention hit a couple of stumbling blocks yesterday with the UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon urging the US to allow a UN team to finish its investigations into the chemical attack from last week, while in the UK the opposition party has vowed to vote against prime minister David Cameron’s interventionist policy.
