Synergy Marine Group has begun managing two new LNG dual-fuel containerships for Yang Ming Marine, enhancing fleet sustainability and performance.
Synergy Marine Group has assumed technical management of two LNG dual-fuel containerships newly delivered to Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp, reported London's LNG Industry.
The vessels, YM Willpower and YM Worthiness, were named on 4 February 2026 after delivery from Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea. Each has a nominal capacity of about 15,500 TEU and is equipped with high-pressure LNG dual-fuel engines, enabling operation on liquefied natural gas and conventional marine fuel.
Yang Ming stated that the ships are part of its long-term fleet optimisation and sustainability programme. The design reduces greenhouse gas emissions and supports compliance with international environmental regulations. The vessels also feature energy-efficient hull forms and advanced monitoring systems.
Under Synergy Marine's management, the ships will be supported by shore-based teams and trained crew with LNG-fuel experience. The scope includes crewing, maintenance, safety systems, performance monitoring, and lifecycle support, with an emphasis on safe fuel handling and regulatory compliance.
Yang Ming chairman Feng-Ming Tsai remarked that the new vessels strengthen environmental performance while maintaining service reliability. Chief marine technology officer Captain James JS Jeng added that effective technical management is essential to realise operational benefits. Synergy Marine executives expressed that they view the partnership as a long-term engagement focused on safe and consistent operations.
